Happiness is dog-shaped, I say. — Chapman Pincher

Fostering is an important part of animal rescue. As a small rescue, when we are full, we cannot pull any more dogs out of shelters. The more foster homes we have, the more dogs we can save. As a foster home, you give a dog a temporary loving home, provide grooming and basic training. A few basic obedience classes are recommended but not required.

Fugee’s Rescue provides medical care, transport to and from the vet, heartworm and flea/tick prevention and boarding, if necessary. A crate will also be provided if needed, as well as food, toys and treats. As an integral part of the adoption process, you as the foster can have significant input on the adopter. After all, the dog has been living in your home as a member of your family and you know them best! Please be aware that while some dogs find their forever home in a short period of time, others may be in the rescue program for a year and longer. Think about how long you are willing to foster your dog and discuss this with your rescue volunteer beforehand.
